Dee Dee is married to Dr. James Ott and is the mother of 5 sons. She has 10 grandchildren and 5 great-grandchildren.

She has a Bachelor of Science in Education from Central Missouri State University and a Master's in Social work for Kansas University. In her early career she worked for Missouri Association for Social Welfare (MASW) at Kansas University and Kansas City, MO public schools as a Social Work Coordinator/Teacher.

Dee Dee became a real estate agent in 1970 and has worked in Missouri, Arkansas and Indiana as a Realtor, Executive Broker and Principal Broker. She received a Lifetime Multi-Million Dollar Award and has achieved the Gold or Platinum Award in real estate every year since 2003. She is a past member of the Hot Springs Board of Realtors, Arkansas Realtors Association, and National Association of Realtors.

Dee Dee is also a member of Lions International and received the Citizen of the Year Award in 2008 for community service.
